Easy ways to stay healthy in the cold weather

Winter is among us and because of the frigid temperatures, your body is more susceptible to catching an illness. But not this winter because you’re going to have these research-backed tips to keep you healthy during the cold.

Visit the pharmacy and get a flu shot.  Getting a flu shot is the best way to prevent your body from catching the flu from others. It is also a great way to prevent others from catching the flu from you. Think of it as a two-sided win-win approach to tackling sickness head-on.

Wash your hands regularly. They say you should wash your hands every time you use the restroom but did you know that you should wash your hands before you eat, after you eat, before you touch shared containers like milk cartons or water bottles, before you put lotion on, before you use products that require your hands to touch them, before you put your contacts in or take them out, and after you’ve been outside or touched and outside door handle or window. Washing your hands with antibacterial soap will help you remove traces of germs that are not seen to the naked eye.

Get rest. Not getting enough sleep can put your immune system in danger of catching an illness. For adults, you should have 7-8 hours of sleep every night. For children, 9-12 hours of sleep each night is recommended.

Exercise and eat healthy food choices. Another way to keep healthy during the cold is to eat healthy and ensure your body is getting adequate amounts of vitamins and minerals. Exercising is a great way to release toxins from inside your body while losing fat cells.
