The main types of polarized
Polarized films can be divided into two main types: reflective and non-reflective. The former are known as metallized films which are manufactured through a process of adding a very thin layer of metal which gives it reflective properties from the solar spectrum. The second type are tinted or pigmented films that are usually of very low reflectance and that work on the basis of absorption by the waves of the solar spectrum.
Components and manufacturing methods of the polarized
In addition to polyester film, polarization requires several components to perform its function. One of these components is the adhesive, this component began to be used in the polarized around 1970, this being an acrylic adhesive known as adhesive (PS) for its acronym in English pressure sensitive or pressure sensitive adhesive. Another very important component is color, this component can be based on inks or based on metals. The ink or pigment can be added in several ways. At the time of making the polyester film, color chips are added so that the film is extruded with color, the transparent film can be immersed in a hot bath with pigment and finally, the glue of the film can be colored either in the adhesive of lamination if it is a two layer film or on the mounting adhesive if it is a one layer film.
The Other Way for You
The other way is through metallization of the film and this can be done by various methods, by Metallization via metal vapor or by metallization via sputtering or sputtering. The main difference is that in the first one the layer is of variable thickness and therefore its appearance is not clear and in the second one since it adheres via ions its surface is smooth or smooth microscopically and the clarity and reflectance improve considerably
